Bangladesh’s Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) has expressed optimism that the country will be able to witness a free, fair, and credible election through the collective efforts of all stakeholders.
He made the remarks while addressing election officials and representatives of law enforcement agencies, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and responsibility at every level of the electoral process.
The CEC stated that ensuring a transparent election is not solely the responsibility of the Election Commission but requires the active participation of political parties, candidates, administration officials, security forces, media, and voters. He highlighted that maintaining neutrality, discipline, and adherence to electoral laws will be crucial to building public confidence in the voting process.
According to the Commission, preparations are underway to strengthen monitoring mechanisms, deploy adequate security personnel, and ensure logistical readiness across polling centres nationwide.
The CEC also underscored the role of technology, updated voter rolls, and strict enforcement of the code of conduct to prevent irregularities.
He urged all political actors to demonstrate restraint and commitment to democratic values, noting that peaceful participation is essential for protecting the integrity of the electoral system.
The Election Commission reiterated its commitment to acting impartially and taking immediate action against any violations of election rules.
The statement comes amid ongoing preparations for the upcoming national polls, with the Commission continuing consultations and coordination efforts to ensure an environment conducive to credible and inclusive elections.
