Financial Assistance Announced for the Victims of the Doulotdia Bus Accident

In a tragic bus accident in the Padma River at Doulotdia, Rajbari, the State Minister for Shipping, Rajib Ahsan, has announced financial assistance for the victims’ families. The Minister stated that an immediate payment of BDT 25,000 would be provided to the families of the deceased, and BDT 15,000 would be given to the injured for their medical treatment.

The announcement was made on Wednesday (March 25) during the ongoing rescue operation at the Doulotdia ferry terminal. He further mentioned that the funds would be provided from the government’s emergency relief fund, and a committee would be formed to investigate the cause of the accident.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when a bus from Souhardya Paribahan, which was traveling from Kushtia, lost control and sank in the Padma River at the Doulotdia 3rd ferry terminal pontoon. The bus was carrying around 45-50 passengers. The bus was recovered from the river at midnight with the help of the rescue ship "Hamza". As of now, 11 bodies have been recovered, and there are fears that many passengers are still missing.

The Ministry of Shipping has pledged to take swift action regarding the aftermath of the incident, and rescue operations are ongoing as officials continue their search efforts.
