The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has severely disrupted air travel, and its negative effects have been felt at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram as well. On Wednesday (March 25), seven more international flights were canceled in a single day.
According to airport authorities, the canceled flights included two outgoing and two incoming flights of Bangladesh Biman Airlines to the Middle East. Additionally, one outgoing flight of US-Bangla Airlines and one incoming and one outgoing flight of Air Arabia were also canceled.
Despite the challenging circumstances, a limited number of flights are still operating. On Wednesday, eight incoming and four outgoing flights were successfully managed. However, the disruption continues for Salam Air, Air Arabia, and US-Bangla Airlines’ flights to Sharjah, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.
Engineer Ibrahim Khalil, the public relations officer of Shah Amanat International Airport, stated that since the conflict in the Middle East began on February 28, a total of 186 international flights have been canceled. This uncertainty is expected to persist until the situation improves.
