Authorities have identified the elderly man who was found stranded in the no-man’s land area along the Dhanuakamalpur border in Bakshiganj upazila of Jamalpur. He is currently under the custody of Bakshiganj Police Station.

According to officials, the man has been identified as Chhosti Chandra Barman, 60, son of Babu Chandra Barman from Chandalai village in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi district.

The elderly man told authorities that he had crossed into India through the Rajshahi border approximately two months ago. During his stay there, he worked as a cattle herder.

Lieutenant Colonel Hasanur Rahman, commanding officer of Jamalpur 35 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), said the man was rescued from the border area and handed over to local police for further procedures.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Makbul Hossain of Bakshiganj Police Station said that contact has already been established with the man's family, who are on their way to Jamalpur.

He added that after verifying his identity and address, the man will be handed over to his relatives if the information is found to be accurate. Legal action will be taken if any discrepancies are discovered during the verification process.
