Cultural Event Marks Jasimuddin’s 123rd Birth Anniversary with Dance Drama “Nakshi Kanthar Math”

A cultural event titled “Maya Bengal in Motion” was organized to celebrate the 123rd birth anniversary of renowned Bengali poet Jasimuddin, widely known as the “Palli Kobi” for his portrayal of rural life.
Organized by MW Bangladesh, the third edition of the platform featured a dance drama inspired by his iconic literary work Nakshi Kanthar Math. The performance brought to life the timeless story of love and separation between Rupai and Saju through expressive dance, music, and emotional storytelling.
The event was dedicated to highlighting the poet’s legacy, with “Nakshi Kanthar Math” regarded as one of his greatest works and translated into many languages around the world.
Popular natural wellness brand Maya has been associated with the “Bengal in Motion” platform since its inception, aiming to promote art, literature, and culture. Through this initiative, the platform is creating meaningful opportunities for local artists to showcase their talent and gain recognition both locally and internationally.
The program featured performances by renowned artists Shamim Ara Nipa and Shibli Mohammad, along with the dance troupe Nrityanchal. The production was curated by Anisul Islam Hiru, presenting a vivid depiction of rural Bengali life, culture, and emotions that captivated the audience.
Rumana Chowdhury, editor and publisher of MW Magazine Bangladesh, said that the Maya brand is working to deliver world-class natural products while also connecting people with their cultural roots.
Malik Mohammad Sayeed, CEO of Square Toiletries Limited, said that the “Maya Bengal in Motion” platform has been playing an important role in promoting art, literature, and culture, while creating opportunities for local artists to gain international exposure.
The event’s broadcast partner is Machranga Television. Other partners include Mediacom as PR partner, Aegis Security Forces as security partner, SK Events as décor partner, and overall management by Sun Communications Limited.
The program will be broadcast on April 29 on Machranga Television to mark International Dance Day.
