Bidushi Bornita first stood in front of a camera at just three years old. She went on to work in commercials, television dramas, and films as a child artiste. After a long break, the Lux Superstar champion is now ready to reinvent herself through lead roles.

Bornita is making her web-film debut with “Newly Married,” a story from the anthology project “Cafe Umbrella,” directed by Shihab Shaheen. She stars opposite Tawsif Mahbub.

The actress is excited about this new chapter in her career. After nearly two months of rehearsals, she began shooting for the project, and around 90 percent of the production has already been completed.

For Bornita, the project is more than just another acting opportunity. She considers it a journey of rediscovering herself as an actress.

Working with experienced artistes such as Shihab Shaheen and Tawsif Mahbub has also given her an opportunity to learn new aspects of acting. She particularly appreciates Tawsif’s support throughout the production.

Bornita says Tawsif has advised her on everything from dialogue delivery to facial expressions and character portrayal. According to her, he has often focused more on improving her performance than on his own scenes. His support has helped boost her confidence.

From Child Artiste to Lux Superstar
Bornita’s journey in entertainment is far from new. She began working in commercials as a child artiste in 2009. Until 2019, she appeared in numerous advertisements and television dramas.

She also appeared in director Nasiruddin Yousuff’s acclaimed film “Guerrilla.”

However, during her teenage years, Bornita faced repeated rejection while auditioning for regular acting roles. Despite having confidence in her abilities, she became frustrated after seeing many social media influencers and familiar faces receiving opportunities.

That frustration eventually motivated her to take a different path. She entered the Lux Superstar competition, where she ultimately achieved major success by becoming the champion.

Her Mother Is Her Closest Person
Bornita describes herself as somewhat different in her personal life as well. Although she interacted with many people during her school and college years, she did not develop many close friendships.

Her mother remains the closest person in her life.

However, her participation in Lux Superstar brought new friendships into her life. Farishta Mou and Nazaha Nawar are now among her closest friends.

Books, Films and Favourite Artistes
Outside acting, Bornita enjoys reading books and watching films. Franz Kafka is among her favourite writers.

Among Bangladeshi actresses, she admires Jaya Ahsan, Mehazabien Chowdhury, Bipasha Hayat, Opi Karim and Afsana Mimi.

Her favourite male artistes include Afran Nisho and Pritom Hasan.

Dreaming of the International Stage
Bornita wants to establish herself as a professional actress. But her ambitions extend beyond the Bangladeshi entertainment industry.

Her biggest dream is to represent Bangladesh on the international stage through her work.

She plans to gradually develop herself through television and digital productions while also looking forward to making her mark on the big screen.

She has already been in discussions with filmmaker Raihan Rafi about a potential film project.

From appearing in front of the camera at the age of three to becoming a Lux Superstar champion and now taking on lead roles, Bidushi Bornita’s career appears to be entering a new chapter.

This time, her goal is not simply to return to acting, but to establish a new identity through her performances and build a lasting place for herself in the entertainment industry.
