Team MarsMare, a pioneering group of young innovators from Bangladesh, has achieved a historic milestone on the world stage. Their scientific paper has been officially accepted at the prestigious IEEE Space Mission Challenges for Information Technology—IEEE Space Computing Conference (SMC-IT/SCC 2025), which will take place from July 28 to August 1, 2025, at the California Science Center in Los Angeles, USA.
What makes this accomplishment truly remarkable is that Team MarsMare is the youngest group ever to be featured on this prestigious platform, with team members aged just 9 to 15. Their work was selected alongside top researchers and engineers from around the world.
The IEEE Space Computing Conference will host leading scientists, astronauts, and engineers from NASA, ESA, and other major space agencies across the globe. This gathering of the brightest minds in space exploration makes Team MarsMare’s achievement even more impressive, as these young innovators will present alongside world-renowned experts.
Their research proposes a futuristic framework for extracting oxygen (O₂) and methane (CH₄) from the Martian atmosphere using a hybrid quantum plasma process. This sustainable approach offers a potential solution for supporting future human missions to Mars, marking a significant step forward in extraterrestrial life support technology.
The acceptance of their work by IEEE, a globally respected authority in space computing and information technology, brings immense pride to Bangladesh and positions its youth at the forefront of prestigious scientific innovation.
Team MarsMare’s groundbreaking contribution to oxygen production from the Martian atmosphere is not just a scientific achievement, it’s a powerful statement about the potential of young minds to shape the future of space exploration.
