Community Bank Bangladesh PLC has signed a participation agreement under Bangladesh Bank’s ‘Refinancing Scheme for Establishing Agro-Based Processing Industries’, aimed at promoting agro-based industries, adding value to agricultural products, and expanding access to financing for entrepreneurs.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at the A.N. Hamidullah Conference Room at Bangladesh Bank’s Head Office. The event was organized by the SME & Special Programmes Department of Bangladesh Bank and attended by Deputy Governor Md. Anis Ur Rahman as the Chief Guest.

On behalf of Bangladesh Bank, the agreement was signed by Md. Jabdul Islam, Director of the SME & Special Programmes Department. Representing Community Bank Bangladesh PLC, the agreement was signed by the Bank’s Chief Operating Officer, Shamsul Haque Sufyani.

Among others, Sharif Hasan Mamun from the SME & Agriculture Division of Community Bank Bangladesh PLC and Nahid Rahman, Executive Director of the SME & Special Programmes Department of Bangladesh Bank, along with other officials, were present at the event.

Under this refinancing scheme, entrepreneurs will have access to financing for establishing new agro-processing industries, expanding investments in existing ventures, and enhancing production capacity. The initiative is expected to encourage investment in agricultural processing and value addition while contributing to the growth of agro-based small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Community Bank’s participation in the scheme will create new financing opportunities for entrepreneurs interested in investing in agro-based processing industries. The initiative is also expected to generate employment, promote the commercial utilization of locally produced agricultural commodities, and strengthen the linkages between the agriculture and industrial sectors.

The initiative is expected to play an important role in accelerating the country’s economic progress by transforming the productivity and potential of the agricultural sector into broader industrial development.

Community Bank Bangladesh PLC believes that expanding financing opportunities for agro-based industries will further strengthen entrepreneurship, generate employment, and contribute to sustainable economic growth. The Bank remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote integrated value addition across the agricultural value chain, from production and processing to marketing.
