A fresh controversy has emerged over actress Pori Moni’s allegation that a journalist touched her inappropriately, describing the incident as a “bad touch” at the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Court premises. Eyewitnesses have reportedly disputed her allegation. The journalist accused by Pori Moni has a congenital physical impairment in his right hand and says he was holding a mobile phone in his other hand at the time.
The journalist has been identified as Robiul Islam Raju. Speaking on Thursday (November 5), he claimed that Pori Moni had made a completely false allegation against him. According to him, the dispute began when they were getting into the court elevator. He was recording a video at the time. He also alleged that Pori Moni took away his mobile phone and broke his tripod.
Explaining his physical condition, Raju said, “I have an impairment in my right hand. I use this hand very little. I was holding my mobile phone in my other hand.”
Raju has been working in journalism for a long time and is reportedly regarded by his colleagues as a decent person.
Earlier on Thursday morning, Pori Moni appeared before the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Court and secured bail. Later, as she left the court and got into her car, she became involved in a heated exchange with journalists. Her personal security personnel and assistants were also seen acting aggressively during the incident.
A video of the incident shows Pori Moni being escorted from the court towards her car by her security personnel and assistants. Journalists gathered around her to seek her reaction to the bail order. Some asked from a distance, “What is your reaction after getting bail? Please give us a comment.”
During the approximately 30-second incident, Pori Moni became visibly angry. In the video, she can be heard saying, “How dare he touch my body? How dare he!”
As the situation escalated, several people present moved the individual away. Pori Moni then left the scene quickly in her car while expressing her anger.
Earlier, at around 11:40 am, Pori Moni got out of a white private car parked within the court premises. At 11:55 am, she appeared before the court, surrendered and sought bail. After the hearing, Judicial Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman granted her bail against a bond of Tk 500.
