State Minister for Land Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin has strongly urged the immediate installation of road dividers and the expansion of the Hathazari-Nazirhat road on a priority basis to improve communication, prevent accidents, and ensure public safety in Chattogram.

He made these demands during the 157th meeting of the Central Land Allocation Committee held at the Ministry of Land conference room in the Secretariat on Thursday, chaired by Land Minister Md. Mijanur Rahman Minu. Drawing attention to the condition of the busy road, the State Minister noted that 27 people recently lost their lives in a tragic accident due to the absence of a road divider. He emphasized that such fatal incidents must be prevented moving forward.

He also directed officials to ensure total transparency and accountability in the land acquisition process while protecting agricultural land and the ecological balance.

During the meeting, land acquisition proposals for major infrastructure projects in Chattogram and other regions were approved. This includes land acquisition for the Chattogram Development Authority's (CDA) canal re-excavation and waterlogging mitigation project, as well as road widening projects for the Chaturi-CUFL-Karnaphuli Drydock highway and the Baraiyarhat-Heako-Ramgarh regional highway. Furthermore, land acquisitions were approved for national power transmission lines, railway dual-gauge projects, the Jashore EPZ, and various industrial zones across the country.
