Banned Student League leader arrested in Chittagong

Police have arrested Hasan Murad, vice-president of the banned Student League’s Chattogram North district unit. He was arrested from the city’s Khulshi area on Friday night, police confirmed on Saturday (September 12).
Hasan Murad is the son of Didarul Alam, a resident of the Dhopa Dighi Par area under Chikandandi Union in Hathazari upazila.
According to police, Murad allegedly led various processions and programmes organised by the banned Student League. His arrest was part of efforts to identify and bring to justice those involved in the organisation’s recent activities.
Police also said several cases are pending against him at Hathazari Police Station, including an attempted murder case involving a businessman. The cases are now being reviewed following his arrest.
Hathazari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Zahidur Rahman said Murad was arrested from Khulshi on Friday night. He added that multiple cases have been filed against him and further legal action will be taken after reviewing the cases.
