Dhaka, Bangladesh, April 23, 2026. The Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) and Daffodil Group, in collaboration with Daffodil International University (DIU), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen Bangladesh’s emerging technology sectors. The partnership will focus on delivering high-level technical training and capacity-building initiatives, particularly in the semiconductor industry and advanced ICT fields.
The collaboration builds on the landmark Government-to-Business (G2B) initiative signed between Bangladesh and Malaysia in August 2025. The agreement, witnessed by the heads of state of both countries, marked a historic milestone, with BMCCI partnering with MIMOS—Malaysia’s National Applied Research and Development Centre—to enhance technical cooperation in the semiconductor sector.
Under the MoU, BMCCI and Daffodil will jointly develop technical talent in partnership with international organisations such as MIMOS (Malaysia’s National Applied R&D Centre) and ASEM. The initiative includes establishing specialised training centres and state-of-the-art laboratories for semiconductor design, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT), as well as facilitating internships, job placements, and industry-linked business opportunities.
The agreement was signed by Shabbir Ahmed Khan, President of BMCCI, and Dr. M. R. Kabir, Vice-Chancellor of DIU, in the presence of senior officials from BMCCI and the Daffodil Group.
Speaking at the event, Shabbir Ahmed Khan said, “This partnership builds on the momentum created through our G2B engagement with MIMOS last year. By combining BMCCI’s regional network with Daffodil’s academic strength, we are creating a strong bridge between Bangladesh and Malaysia that will help position the country as a hub for semiconductor and advanced technologies.”
Dr. M. R. Kabir added, “Daffodil is committed to providing the infrastructure and technical expertise required to translate this vision into reality. Together, we aim to ensure that the next generation of Bangladeshi engineers and innovators is equipped to compete on a global stage.”
