The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has announced that it will proceed with its planned protest in New Delhi despite the detention of three of its leaders, including founder Abhijit Deepak. Ajinkya Shinde, who is in charge of the party’s organisation, will lead the demonstration.
The party announced the decision in a post on social media platform X on Saturday, October 10.
Earlier, in a video message recorded amid fears of arrest, Deepak addressed the question of who would lead the protest. He said that if he, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained, Shinde would lead the demonstration at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
According to the report, police detained Deepak, Das and Ranka inside an aircraft at an airport before the protest was due to begin at Jantar Mantar.
The demonstration was organised over allegations of irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and to demand the resignation of India’s Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar.
