The US Embassy in Dhaka has urged travellers to comply with visa conditions and the authorised period of stay in the United States, warning that overstaying could lead to future entry restrictions and possible criminal proceedings.
The warning was issued in a message posted on the embassy’s official Facebook page on Saturday, October 17.
According to the post, remaining in the United States beyond the authorised period could result in a permanent ban on future travel to the country. Those who overstay may also face the risk of criminal proceedings, the embassy warned.
The embassy added that consular officers may review visa and immigration records. Any previous violations of immigration laws or regulations could also come to light during such checks.
The embassy advised prospective travellers to follow all visa conditions carefully and leave the United States within their authorised period of stay.
