Government Extends Durga Puja Holiday, Employees to Get Five Consecutive Days Off

The government has decided to extend the holiday for Durga Puja by one day. Thursday, October 22, will be declared a general holiday by executive order. With the festival holidays and the weekend, government employees will have five consecutive days off from October 20 to 24.
The information was confirmed by sources at the Ministry of Public Administration on Tuesday (September 29).
According to the government holiday calendar, October 20 and 21 are public holidays for Durga Puja. The additional holiday on October 22 will be followed by the regular weekend on Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24.
However, the extended holiday may not apply to employees in hospitals and medical services, police, fire service, electricity, gas and water supply, media, and other emergency services.
Durga Puja Schedule
Mahalaya will be observed on October 10. Maha Shashthi falls on October 16, Maha Saptami on October 18, Maha Ashtami on October 19, Maha Navami on October 20, and Bijoya Dashami on October 21.
