22,000 Farmers to Receive ’Farmer Cards’ in 11 Upazilas; Launch to Take Place on Pohela Boishakh

The government will issue Farmer Cards to 22,000 farmers in 11 upazilas as part of a pilot program. The Farmer Cards will be distributed on Pohela Boishakh (1st April) in Tangail Sadar. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will officially launch the distribution process.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Secretariat on March 17. The meeting discussed the Farmer Card initiative, which aims to support farmers in accessing government benefits more efficiently. Atikur Rahman Ruman, the Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary, confirmed the news.
The Farmer Card initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance agricultural support, ensuring that farmers receive timely access to benefits such as subsidies and services.
The pilot program will be implemented in the following upazilas:
Tangail Sadar, Panchagarh Sadar and Boda, Bogura Shibganj, Jhenaidah Shailkupa, Pirojpur Nesarabad, Cox’s Bazar Teknaf, Comilla Adarsha Sadar, Jamalpur Islampur, Rajbari Goalanda, and Moulvibazar Juri Upazilas.
Present at the meeting were Agriculture Minister Md. Aminur Rashid, Prime Minister’s Advisor for Economic and Planning Affairs Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Minister of Local Government Meir Shah Alam, Minister of Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, and Prime Minister's Advisor for Post, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Rehan Asif Asad, along with senior officials from various ministries.
