Salman Muqtadir’s Studio Ransacked in ECB Area, Creator Says He Won’t Stop

Popular Bangladeshi content creator Salman Muqtadir’s studio was allegedly attacked and vandalised in the ECB area of Dhaka. Muqtadir was not in the capital when the incident took place. He later visited the site, assessed the damage and went live on social media to show the condition of his studio.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 10pm on Saturday at Muqtadir’s ‘Brownfish’ studio at Newgreeny Properties near the ECB area. There have been allegations that individuals claiming political affiliations had demanded extortion from him. However, Muqtadir said no one had directly demanded money from him and that he learned about the alleged extortion demand from police and others.
Footage from inside the studio showed extensive damage. Glass doors and windows had been smashed, while furniture and sofas were overturned. Musical instruments and other equipment were scattered across the floor, along with papers and foam materials. His YouTube Golden Play Button was also seen lying among the debris.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday morning, Muqtadir was asked whether he planned to take legal action over the incident. In response, he expressed a lack of confidence in Bangladesh’s legal system.
Addressing reports of an extortion demand, Muqtadir reiterated that nobody had personally approached him to demand money. He said he had heard about the allegation from police and other people.
He has yet to determine the full financial extent of the damage. According to Muqtadir, the studio contained materials and footage belonging to numerous clients, as well as equipment used for various productions and shoots. The disruption to client projects, along with the damage to the studio and equipment, could amount to a substantial loss, although he said he was not yet in a position to provide a precise figure.
Despite the destruction, Muqtadir said the incident would not stop him from continuing his creative work. He indicated that he intends to move forward with his projects despite the damage to the studio.
The identities of those involved, the motive behind the attack and the allegations regarding extortion have yet to be established through a publicly released investigation.
