President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has warned that if artificial intelligence (AI) begins controlling humans, the entire civilisation could face a crisis. He said AI will play a significant role in determining Bangladesh’s position in the world in the years ahead. However, he stressed the need to ensure that the technology does not go beyond human control.
The President made the remarks on Thursday (November 5) at the opening ceremony of the AI Business Summit 2026, held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre.
“The world is standing at the threshold of a major transformation, with artificial intelligence as its central driving force,” he said.
Describing young people as the leading force of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the President urged business leaders not to view AI merely as a tool for cutting costs. Instead, he called for using the technology to develop new products and services, expand markets and create employment opportunities.
He also emphasised the importance of equipping young people with technological skills and quality education to help them benefit from AI.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stressed the need for safe use and effective regulation of artificial intelligence. He expressed the view that AI would serve as one of the key catalysts in determining Bangladesh’s position in the future global landscape.
