Actress Pori Moni has been granted bail after surrendering to a Dhaka court in a case filed by businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud over allegations of assault, vandalism and intimidation. On Thursday (November 5), she appeared before the court and sought bail. Following a hearing, the court granted her bail against a Tk 500 bond.

Pori Moni arrived at the premises of the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Court at 11:40 am in a white private car. She entered the courtroom and surrendered at 11:55 am. Judicial Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman subsequently granted her bail application.

Her lawyer, Nilanjana Rifat, confirmed the development, saying that the court had issued an arrest warrant against her client the previous day. After Pori Moni surrendered and applied for bail, the court approved the application following a hearing.

The case was scheduled for witness testimony on Wednesday. However, Pori Moni could not attend court due to illness. Her lawyer sought an adjournment, but the court rejected the request and subsequently cancelled her bail and ordered the issuance of an arrest warrant.

An arrest warrant had also been issued against Pori Moni in the same case previously. On January 26 last year, the court framed charges and ordered the trial to begin. She was absent from the hearing that day, prompting the court to issue a warrant. She later surrendered and secured bail.
