Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has provided financial assistance to help construct a new home for Bangladesh women’s football star Rituparna Chakma.
The financial grant was handed over to Rituparna during a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office inside the National Parliament complex on Tuesday, during a break in the budget session.
According to Deputy Press Secretary, Md. Sujauddoula (Sujon Mahmud), several government officials attended the event, including State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque, State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, State Minister for Textiles and Jute Shariful Alam, and Bangladesh Football Federation President Tabith Awal.
Rituparna Chakma has emerged as one of the brightest stars in Bangladesh women’s football. She played a key role in Bangladesh’s SAFF Women’s Championship triumphs in 2022 and 2024 and was also instrumental in the country’s historic qualification for the final round of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in 2025.
The footballer and her family had previously received financial assistance in 2025 when her mother was undergoing cancer treatment. Political leaders and representatives visited her remote home in the hill districts and extended support during that difficult period.
Coming from a modest family in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, Rituparna’s journey to national and international success has made her an inspiration for countless aspiring female footballers across Bangladesh.
