Bangladesh Women End Asian Games Hockey Campaign with 3-2 Defeat to Chinese Taipei

Bangladesh’s women’s hockey team ended its Asian Games campaign without a win after losing 3-2 to Chinese Taipei in its final group-stage match. Bangladesh finished the competition with one draw and four defeats from five matches.

The match was played at Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium in Japan. Chinese Taipei took the lead in the sixth minute through Yu-Ting Huang, ending the first quarter 1-0 ahead.

Bangladesh fought back in the second quarter, with Kona Akter scoring twice in the 19th and 24th minutes to put her side 2-1 up.

Yu-Chiu Wang equalised for Chinese Taipei in the final minute of the third quarter. Yu-Ting Huang then scored her second goal in the 49th minute to restore Chinese Taipei’s lead. Bangladesh could not find another equaliser.

Thirteen players from the Bangladesh team that performed well at the Junior Asia Cup were included in the squad. However, the team finished the tournament with four losses and one draw.

Bangladesh had earlier lost 13-0 to China, 3-1 to Malaysia and 8-0 to South Korea. Its only point came from a 3-3 draw against Kazakhstan.
