Arrest Warrant Issued Against Pori Moni for Failing to Appear in Court

A court has ordered the issuance of an arrest warrant against actress Pori Moni after she failed to appear in a case filed by businessman Nasir U Ahmed.

The order was issued on Wednesday (November 4) by Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman in Dhaka. As Pori Moni was absent from the court, her bail petition was rejected and an arrest warrant was issued against her.

Businessman Nasir filed the complaint case at a Dhaka court on July 18, 2022, accusing Pori Moni of assault and attempted murder.

In his complaint, Nasir alleged that on June 8, 2021, Pori Moni and her associates entered Savar's Boat Club and used its washroom. They later sat inside the club and consumed alcohol. At around 1:15 am, as they were leaving the club, Pori Moni allegedly called him over and pressured him to provide a bottle of Blue Label alcohol free of charge.

According to Nasir's allegation, when he refused, Pori Moni verbally abused him. He further claimed that she then threw a glass at him with the intention of attempting to kill him, striking him on the head and chest.

These allegations are based on the complainant's account. The court has not yet issued a final verdict on the case.
