Actress Pori Moni has gone to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court in Dhaka to seek bail in a case filed by businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud over allegations of assault and attempted murder.
She is expected to surrender before the court on Thursday, November 5, and seek bail.
On Wednesday, Acting Judge Mahfuzur Rahman of Dhaka Judicial Magistrate Court-1 ordered the cancellation of Pori Moni's bail and issued an arrest warrant against her.
According to court sources, Wednesday was scheduled for witness testimony in the case. The complainant's side filed an application seeking cancellation of the accused persons' bail. Meanwhile, the lawyer representing Pori Moni sought an adjournment.
The defence application stated that she could not appear in court because of an allergy-related illness. The court subsequently accepted the complainant's application, cancelled her bail and ordered the issuance of an arrest warrant.
Earlier, on January 26 last year, the court framed charges in the case and ordered the commencement of the trial. An arrest warrant was also issued against Pori Moni that day. She later surrendered before the court and secured bail.
