9 Killed as Sleeper Tourist Bus Catches Fire on Yamuna Expressway

At least nine people, including a woman, were killed after a sleeper tourist bus caught fire on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. Several passengers were also injured in the incident.

The accident occurred early Thursday morning (September 24). The bus was travelling from Noida to Mahoba with more than 34 passengers on board. Most of the passengers were reportedly asleep when the fire broke out.

As the flames spread, several passengers attempted to escape by jumping through the bus windows, creating chaos at the scene.

Multiple fire service units and police from Jewar police station rushed to the spot after receiving the alert and began rescue operations. The exact cause of the fire has not yet been officially determined.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences to the families of those who died. He also directed officials to ensure proper and prompt medical treatment for the injured and provide all necessary assistance to the affected families.

Police and fire service personnel continue to conduct rescue operations and investigate the cause of the deadly fire.
