Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency has reported that two missiles struck Qeshm Island in the country’s south. However, no detailed information has yet emerged about possible casualties or damage.

According to Tasnim on Saturday, November 7, initial reports indicated that two missiles had hit the island. The agency said it would publish further details after the relevant authorities confirmed the incident.

Meanwhile, Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported that local residents heard two explosions in the Suza area of Qeshm Island, near the Strait of Hormuz. Citing eyewitnesses, the report said two objects were seen crashing in the area. Residents also said they had heard the sound of an aircraft overhead shortly before the explosions.

Hours after the reports of the explosions emerged, Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB claimed that a US MQ-9 drone had been shot down over Qeshm Island. According to the report, the country’s defence forces destroyed the drone. The United States had not immediately confirmed the claim.

Earlier on Friday, Iranian media reported that another US drone had been shot down over the same island. Citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the reports identified the aircraft as an MQ-1 model. These claims have not been independently verified.

Meanwhile, Qatar’s International Media Office has described reports claiming that the United States and Iran had failed to reach an agreement to end the war as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the office said Qatar’s prime minister had confirmed that both sides were still working towards an agreement.

The statement added that Doha was continuing its mediation efforts through close communication with Washington and Tehran to help reach an understanding.
