India will face five-time world champions Brazil in a historic international friendly at Kolkata’s Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, popularly known as Salt Lake Stadium, on Saturday.
The match will kick off at 8:00pm Bangladesh time and is being seen as one of the biggest fixtures in the history of Indian men’s football. India have never previously faced a fully established football powerhouse of Brazil’s stature.
Brazil arrived in India after playing two friendly matches in Australia. The fixture marks their first international assignment in the September-October window following their unexpected elimination in the Round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup.
India, meanwhile, head into the match with confidence under coach Khalid Jamil. In their first friendly of the current international window, India held higher-ranked Panama to a 1-1 draw in Bengaluru.
The match has generated considerable excitement in Kolkata, with Indian fans set to watch their national team take on one of the most decorated sides in international football.
The game will be broadcast live on Sony Sports Network’s Sony Ten channels. It will also be available on the SonyLIV app and website, as well as the Sportzfy app.
