Despite playing in several franchise leagues around the world, Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman has never featured in Australia's Big Bash League. That is set to change, as the Melbourne Renegades have signed him for his first appearance in the tournament.

The Renegades selected Mustafizur as a replacement for experienced fast bowler Jason Behrendorff, who has been ruled out of the entire season with a shoulder injury. The club expects the Bangladesh pacer's arrival to add strength and variety to its bowling attack.

The 31-year-old has an impressive T20 record. He has taken 423 wickets in 331 matches across various leagues and competitions around the world. Despite his extensive experience, this will be his first opportunity to play in Australia's premier domestic T20 competition.

However, Mustafizur will not be available for the Renegades' opening match against the Perth Scorchers because of his commitments in the ILT20. Nevertheless, the pacer is excited about the prospect of playing at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

According to the schedule, the Renegades will face the Sydney Sixers on January 1 and the Melbourne Stars on January 4 at the MCG.

In a club statement, Mustafizur said he was looking forward to making his Big Bash debut with the Renegades. He also described the opportunity to play at the MCG, which he considers his home ground, as a special experience. The Bangladesh pacer hopes to join his teammates and use his experience to contribute to the team's success.

Renegades head coach Luke Ronchi is also pleased with the signing. He considers Mustafizur's inclusion alongside overseas players such as Jonny Bairstow and Michael Bracewell an important addition to the squad.

According to Ronchi, Mustafizur is a proven match-winning bowler in T20 cricket. His ability to take wickets during both the powerplay and the death overs is expected to strengthen the Renegades' bowling attack.
